The Mozambican Tax Authority says that it had collected 34 billion meticais (around EUR 452 million at current exchange rates) in the first three months of this year, against a target of 31 billion meticais – a 109 per cent achievement.
With revenue 21 percent higher than the same period last year, the numbers are encouraging.
Tax Director-General Augusto Tacarindua said yesterday that, given the promising numbers, there was good reason to expect that that AT would reach its overall annual target of collecting 232 billion meticais in taxes. To that end, Tacarindua called on tax officials to work zealously and professionally in collecting taxes, as well as urging taxpayers to fulfil their obligations.
