• Forty-seven new counters were opened in Zimbabwe, bringing the total to 330 for the quarter  
  • Across all markets, there are now 720 stores

Harare-Simbisa Brands, Zimbabwe's largest fast-food outlet, has opened a net total of 57 new company-operated stores between 30 September 2023 and 30 September 2024 with 5 opened in the first quarter of the 2025 financial year, contributing to a total of 720 stores across its markets.

In Zimbabwe alone, the company added 47 new counters during this timeframe, boosting its total to 330 making it the largest fast-foods outlet.

With this expansion, Group’s revenue rose by 6% with customer count rising by 7%.

After adding 47 counters in Zimbabwe, revenue grew by 4% in the first quarter driven by a 12% increase in customer counts as the company served 12.1 million customers .

In regional operations, Kenya’s operations were profitable with 13%  rise in US Dollar revenue, fuelled by a 25% increase in real Average Spend. However, socio-economic unrest in Kenya resulted in trade disruptions and damage to shops, leading to a 10% drop in customer footfall, which fell to 3 million.

However, Eswatini’s revenue  fell 3%  in US Dollar terms, with customer counts down 10%  but real Average Spend increased with 8%.

‘’ A counter refurbishment programme will be rolled out over the course of the financial year under review, to upgrade and refresh the infrastructure in this market’’. Group CEO Basil Dionisio said.

Looking ahead, the group expects to increase its profit margins through strengthening strategically presence with  promotions and offerings, targeting the Pizza in stores .The group also plans to open  31 new store  and refurbishing 44 counters to full year 2025. The capitalisation  on pizza promotions is because many competitors are selling the same product.
