·       Registration extended to 26 March 2023

·       ZEC has been experiencing machine failure and erratic power supplies

·       However, due to extended bad weather and continued machine failures, five days are likely not enough to accommodate all voters

Harare- Zimbabweans are left with three days to register for the upcoming 2023 general elections after the elections body, ZEC extended the registration date to 26 March 2023.

This followed technical problems the body has been succumbing to due to erratic power supplies from ZESA.

The body itself has solar systems but ZEC chairperson, Pricilla Chigumba said the system has succumbed to bad weather.

However, since 21st March, the weather has never been solar friendly with showers characterised by overcast conditions.

This means ZEC will not be able to accommodate all the possible voters within a space of five days.

Another problem that voters are facing are long unsustainable queues forcing them to turn away.

There have been reports of long queues in many parts of Harare including Budiriro and in rural areas like Hurungwe due to machine failure and tiredness.
