Mozambique: Annual inflation rate drops to just over 5%

Year-on-year inflation in Mozambique was 5.02% in August the country’s National Statistics Institute (INE) said on Tuesday.
The Consumer Price Index published on Tuesday showed that the transport sector contributed the most to this price hike, as it increased by 14.17%”.
Average inflation figures over the last12 months have come down from a high of 22.33% to just over 5% in August The rates are calculated using alterations in the Consumer Price Index for a basket of gods and services in Maputo, Beira and Nampula.
The monthly inflation rate between July and August was 0.26%, the INE added.
