One million tourist visit last year netted Mozambique more than US$150 million dollars, Minister of Culture and Tourism Silva Dunduro told attendees at a statistics seminar in Maputo yesterday.
“We are developing a pilot project to help tour operators understand the extent and weight of the contribution domestic tourism offers to our economy. We said that last year tourism contributed US$150 million dollars as regards international arrivals, but if we can measure what domestic tourism also brings in, we will probably realise that domestic tourism in Mozambique is much more important than what we have hitherto imagined,” the minister said.
