PGM production at Mimosa mine for the three months to March 31, 2018 increased marginally to 30,129 ounces compared to 29,975 ounces same quarter in 2017 largely as a result of an increase in tonnes milled.
The Zvishavane-based mine is a 50:50 joint venture between South African giants Sibanye and Impala Platinum.
In an update, Sibanye said tonnes milled at Mimosa totaled 338,000 tonnes in the March 2018 quarter compared to 335 000 tonnes same period last year.
Plant head grade lowered to 3,56 g/t in 2018 compared to 3.56 g/t in 2017. Recoveries were however up on prior year at 78.15% against 77.72% last year.
Yield was 2.77 g/t compared to 2.78 g/t in 2017. According to the update, the company sold a total 30.129 4E ounces compared to 29.975 4E ounces in prior year. The average PGM basket price was at $1.058 for the quarter under review compared to $915 last year same period.
