State-owned telecoms companies Moçambique Celular (Mcel) and Telecomunicações de Moçambique (TDM) have yesterday announced the appointment of four new executive officers as part of the merger of the two firms.
The appointments are billed as a step in the companies’ transformation into a single, competitive and sustainable entity.
Juvêncio Pedro Maenzana was appointed as Executive Director of Operations; Márcia Wiehle Fenita, Commercial Executive Director; Arlindo Zefanias Dava, Executive Director of Finance; and Augusto Magobeia Jacinto Fé, Executive Director of Personnel and Corporate Services.
The recruitment and selection process was described as open and transparent, and was conducted by an external panel which appraised the candidates before submitting proposals to the Board of Directors, which approved them and proceeded to the appointments.
The new directors are charged with refining the new entity’s mission, and developing a new organisational structure, processes and systems. They will also be responsible for defining and implementing the responsibilities of new executive areas, under the supervision of the Board of Directors.
The merger process is expected to be completed by December 2018, when conditions for convergence will have been created in the areas of human resources, infrastructure, commercial and sales system, and technological and information technology systems.-LUSA
