The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Leticia Klemens, has invited international energy companies, financial institutions and scientific research bodies to invest in Mozambique.
Klemens launched the invitation at a meeting organized by Chatham House Royal Institute for International Affairs, explaining that Mozambique was a market with huge potential in all sectors of activity, particularly energy, a press release sent to the AIM reads.
Minister Klemens visited the United Kingdom at the invitation of the British government last week to promote the Mozambique energy sector from a business perspective. She participated in the SubSea Expo 2017 Exhibition and Conference in Aberdeen, Scotland, the largest event in the oil and gas sector in the offshore operations area.
Whilst there, Minister Klemens met Mozambican students and shared experiences about what they can do for Mozambique after completing their studies.
During the Minister’s visit, a permanent communication platform was created to exchange views on the development of the energy sector in Mozambique.
At a meeting with local government and scientific research institutions in Aberdeen, commitments were given to work on an integrated training package to equip Mozambicans for employment in the natural gas and oil industry.
In London, the minister was received by the Minister for Africa in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tobias Ellwood, the Minister of International Trade, Greg Hands, and the Trade Envoy of the UK Prime Minister, Richard Benyon. -AIM
