Econet effects key Managerial adjustments

  • Econet creates Deputy CEO post
  • Roy Chimanikire appointed Deputy CEO
  • Kezito now Econet’s COO

Zimbabwe’s largest Telecomms company, Econet has made key appointments to the top echelon of its management.

Introducing a new post, a new Deputy CEO has been appointed in the person of Roy Chimanikire who has been the Group Finance Director since succeeding Krison Chirairo a few years ago. Roy is a Chartered Accountant with 20 years of work experience.

Roy joined Econet in 2009 from Deloitte where he had been a partner. He is credited with the successful unbundling of Cassava Smartech which was listed on the ZSE in December of 2018.

A second appointment is that of Mr. Kezito Makuni who will now serve as the Group Chief Operating Officer. Kezito joined Econet’s ranks as Projects Manager in 2019 and has been with the group for just over a decade and is armed with 29 years of experience in the telecoms field.

In a related development, CABS this April, announced the appointment of a new Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director to its Board.

Mehluli Mpofu who has served as the Society’s Deputy Managing Director since 2015 assumes the post of Managing Director, taking over from Simon Hammond who goes into retirement after serving as CABS’ Managing Director for more than 5 years while Cecil Ndoro takes over the Deputy Managing Director post.

The changes in management structures to include the post of Deputy Managing Director is an emerging phenomena in Zimbabwe’s corporate corridors. Last year FBCH announced the appointment of then FD Trynos Kufazvinei as the group Deputy MD, a new post at that point in time.
