Hammond calls it a day at CABS, protégé takes over

  • Simon Hammond goes into retirement with effect from 1 April 2020
  • Incoming Mpofu has been a member of the Old Mutual Group for close to 15 years
  • Cecil Ndoro assumes Deputy Managing Director position

CABS has announced the appointment of a new Managing Director and Deputy Managing Director to its Board.

Mehluli Mpofu who has served as the Society’s Deputy Managing Director since 2015 assumes the post of Managing Director, taking over from Simon Hammond who goes into retirement after serving as CABS’ Managing Director for more than 5 years while Cecil Ndoro takes over the Deputy Managing Director post.

Mpofu has been in the Old Mutual Group for years having taken up positions that include Investment Analyst (2004-2006) and Head of Research under the Old Mutual Investment Group Zimbabwe (2007-2014) as well as Chief Investment Officer in Old Mutual Investment Group Kenya (2010-2011).

Prior to taking up the Deputy Managing Director position at CABS in 2015, he was the Managing Director of the Old Mutual Investment Group Zimbabwe from April 2014 to June 2015.

“Mehluli holds a Charter in Financial Analysis, an MBA from the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business as well as an Honours degree in Electrical Engineering”, CABS said.

Cecil Ndoro, the new Deputy Managing Director has served as CABS’ Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking since the inception of the department in 2012.

Prior to that he has held senior positions in local and international banks.

He holds an MBA, a Degree in Business Studies, a Diploma in Marketing Management and a Certificate in Management from Wits Business School.

CABS is a subsidiary of Old Mutual Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe’s largest life assurance organization under the Old Mutual Limited (Group).
