Food prices lift Morocco’s annual inflation to 2.5 pct yr/yr in March


    Morocco’s annual consumer price inflation rose to 2.5 percent in March, up from 1.8 percent in February, mainly due to higher food prices, the High Planning Authority said on Friday.

    Annual food inflation rose to 3.3 percent up from 1.7 percent in the 12 months through March. Non-food price inflation slightly slowed to 1.4 percent from 1.5 percent year on year.

    On a month-on-month basis, the consumer price index rose to 0.1 percent in March compared to 0.5 percent in February, as food price inflation eased to 0.2 percent down from 1.2 percent.
